Mac + Parallel -> usb adapter + Madcatz Camera link cable

I've searched through this entire community trying to find an answer on how to get this all to work and have got a bit of a headache from it all. So I thought I would post everything I've got and running and see if anyone could help me.

I'm on a MacBook Pro which I'm running Parallels on with Windows XP sp3.

When I plug in the Parallel -> usb adapter windows recognises it and installs the driver, this all seems to be working.

I have installed the MadCatz software, changed the compatibility to Windows 98. The software runs fine and everything, I haven't had it crash or anything.

I installed userport, deleted the defaults and added in 378 - 37F , or something, I remember it had "x"'s when I put it in but when I clicked add they disappeared. This confuses me, I dont really understand this software.

The problem I'm having is that the Madcatz software says it cannot recognise any hardware.

Have I entered the wrong thing into userport? If so what do I need to enter?
Is there something that I have to do with the BIOS? I'm not even sure if I can do anything like that with Parallels.

Has anyone got the cameralink cable to work with a usb adapter?
Has anyone got any gameboy stuff working on mac?

or should I just give up and buy a crappy old pc with a parallel port just to run this software. I'd rather not.

any and all help would be awesome.

Printing to Game Boy Printer from PC

I am looking for anyone who can shed a light on printing from a Game Boy Printer to the PC.  I know a person made a hack using badges and DOS, so it may be possible, but there has to be a way to do it a bit easier.  My thought is a dot by dot translation of the item it's printing, just like the Game Boy does.  I understand it'll only do parallel port with a method like this, but that's still nice when considering that you'd be able to make QR code labels or even barcodes with it.

Any suggestions or leads or help would be appreciated!

Game Boy Printer Discoveries

Not many people post on here anymore as that maybe stock has diminished or that feelings that the camera has passed its prime. I am not so sure. Lately I have been posting about the Game Boy Printer and Camera in my LJ and I think it'll make for interesting reading for anyone who is still reading this community.

I would love to find a way to print anything I wanted to the printer directly. I have the Mad Catz printer cable, I also have the GameShark/Action Replay cables. The idea I had is that if you can connect the printer to the computer using one of these cables then feed it data from a driver that mimics a send. Then you can use Windows to send anything you want to the printer. It'd be nice to use the Game Boy Printer for other applications.

Ideas, thoughts? Feel free to post your comments. I'm all ears.
